Overview

Everest Three High Passes Trek stands among the most challenging and rewarding trekking adventures in Nepal. This route takes trekkers deep into the famous Everest Region and crosses three major Himalayan passes above 5,000 meters. These passes include Kongma La Pass, Cho La Pass, and Renjo La Pass. The journey combines high mountain trekking with visits to Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Lakes, and spectacular Himalayan viewpoints.

The trek begins with a mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport. From Lukla the trail follows the Dudh Koshi valley toward the famous Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar. The route continues through alpine forests, glacier valleys, and high altitude landscapes surrounded by Himalayan giants including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Cho Oyu.

Trekkers reach the famous Everest Base Camp and climb to Kala Patthar for sunrise views of Everest. The trek also includes exploration of the beautiful Gokyo Lakes and a climb to Gokyo Ri for panoramic Himalayan scenery.

This trek forms a full circuit through the Everest region and provides one of the most complete trekking experiences in the Himalayas.

Endless Discovery

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft)

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A representative welcomes you and transfers you to the hotel. After check-in, you attend a trek briefing where the guide explains the Everest Three High Passes Trek route, equipment, and safety information. The evening is free to explore Thamel or rest after your journey.

Day 2

Fly to Lukla (2,840 m / 9,318 ft) and Trek to Phakding (2,610 m / 8,563 ft)

Early morning scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla with beautiful Himalayan views. After landing at Lukla, meet the trekking crew and begin the trek. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River and passes small Sherpa villages before reaching Phakding.

Day 3

Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft)

The trail continues along the Dudh Koshi River through pine forests and several suspension bridges. After entering Sagarmatha National Park, the path climbs steeply to Namche Bazaar, the main trading center of the Everest region. Trekkers may see their first view of Mount Everest on a clear day.

Day 4

Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft)

Today is for altitude acclimatization. A short hike to the Everest View area provides stunning views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. After the hike, explore Namche Bazaar, including the Sherpa Museum and local markets.

Day 5

Trek Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860 m / 12,664 ft)

The trail follows a scenic ridge with amazing Himalayan views. After descending to the river and crossing a suspension bridge, the path climbs through forests to Tengboche village, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery.

Day 6

Trek Tengboche to Dingboche (4,410 m / 14,468 ft)

The trail descends through forests before crossing the Imja River. Passing the Sherpa village of Pangboche, the trek continues into a wide alpine valley to Dingboche with stunning views of Ama Dablam.

Day 7

Acclimatization Day in Dingboche (4,410 m / 14,468 ft)

Another rest and acclimatization day. A short hike to a nearby viewpoint offers beautiful views of Makalu, Lhotse, and surrounding peaks. Afternoon rest and preparation for higher altitude trekking.

Day 8

Trek Dingboche to Chhukung (4,730 m / 15,518 ft)

A short trek deeper into the Imja Valley brings you to Chhukung village. The trail offers dramatic mountain scenery and views of glaciers and peaks including Island Peak.

Day 9

Cross Kongma La Pass (5,535 m / 18,159 ft) to Lobuche (4,940 m / 16,207 ft)

Today is a challenging day crossing the first high pass, Kongma La Pass. From the top, trekkers enjoy incredible views of Everest, Makalu, and surrounding mountains before descending to Lobuche village.

Day 10

Trek Lobuche (4,940 m) to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m / 17,598 ft) and Gorakshep (5,164 m / 16,942 ft)

The trail follows the Khumbu Glacier valley to Gorakshep. After a short rest, trekkers continue to Everest Base Camp. Standing at the base of the world’s highest mountain is a truly unforgettable moment. Return to Gorakshep for overnight.

Day 11

Hike Kala Patthar (5,545 m / 18,192 ft) and Trek to Dzongla (4,830 m / 15,846 ft)

Early morning hike to Kala Patthar for spectacular sunrise views of Everest and nearby peaks. After enjoying the panorama, descend and trek to Dzongla village.

Day 12

Cross Cho La Pass (5,420 m / 17,782 ft) to Thagnak (4,700 m / 15,420 ft)

Today the trek crosses the second high pass, Cho La Pass. The trail includes glacier terrain and rocky paths before reaching the summit and descending to Thagnak in the Gokyo Valley.

Day 13

Trek Thagnak to Gokyo (4,790 m / 15,715 ft)

The trail passes beside glaciers and beautiful turquoise lakes before reaching the village of Gokyo. The Gokyo Lakes are among the most beautiful landscapes in the Himalayas.

Day 14

Hike Gokyo Ri (5,357 m / 17,575 ft)

Morning hike to Gokyo Ri for panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and the Gokyo Valley. After enjoying the scenery, return to Gokyo village.

Day 15

Cross Renjo La Pass (5,360 m / 17,585 ft) to Lungden (4,380 m / 14,370 ft)

The final high pass of the trek is Renjo La Pass. The climb rewards trekkers with breathtaking views of Everest and the Gokyo Lakes before descending to Lungden village.

Trek Lungden to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft)

Trek Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,840 m / 9,318 ft)

Fly Lukla to Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft)
